About the role:
We have a new exciting opportunity to work as a Facilities Assistant Apprentice studying a Business Administration Apprenticeship. This role with give you the opportunity to work for a market leading company, whilst gaining valuable skills and experience to ensure you develop to your full potential throughout the apprenticeship.
This will be a busy multi-functional role and the Facilities Assistant Apprentice will have a wide range of duties. The role will be based at our Derby Raynesway site (home to circa 500 employees) and will be supported by the Facilities Supervisor on site.
What the apprenticeship will offer:
Balfour Beatty offers a comprehensive training programme in Business Administration with the opportunity of completing industry recognised vocational qualifications. You will provide effective, efficient, confidential and comprehensive administrative support to our business. As part of the Apprenticeship scheme you will be supported with gaining
an NVQ level 2 in Business Administration qualification. You will also have various other training opportunities, such as Induction, Continuous Improvement Training and Customer Service training. Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, we will look to explore further opportunities within Balfour Beatty and further development of you and your career.
What you’ll be doing
Your responsibilities as a Facilities Assistant Apprentice:
Front of House/Post Duties: When working at the main site reception the Facilities Assistant Apprentice will be the first point of contact for external visitors and will be expected to provide first class front of house/reception services including the management of visitors, ensuring visitors are aware of the site rules, switchboard answering and the provision of other services/support as required.
The Facilities Assistant Apprentice will also be expected to carry out mail room duties including the franking and sorting of post and other deliveries as well as assisting staff and visitors with booking meeting rooms. Ensuring that meeting rooms are maintained to an exceptional standard at all times including checking/clearing rooms between meetings, carrying out operational checks of equipment and ensuring that kitchen areas are kept clean/tidy with dishwashers stocked/emptied as required. Kitchen stock should also be replenished in the meeting room suite and if required in other kitchen areas across the site.
The Facilities Assistant Apprentice will be expected to cover access control of deliveries and vehicles to/from the site as and when required and all in accordance with the relevant site security procedure. Controlling visitors PPE will also be required.
General admin support as and when required including logging/monitoring maintenance jobs for the site, managing mailboxes, providing support to the Office Manager/PA, providing out of hours/weekend working information to the site, issuing ID badges and vehicle permits to permanent members of staff, raising requisitions for purchase orders, ordering stationery and other consumables
Who we’re looking for
An enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a good understanding or previous experience of providing front of house and facilities management support in a corporate environment.
This role will be customer facing so good customer service skills and a sense of pride and ownership in your responsibilities will be
You will have a minimum of 3 GCSEs A*-C including Maths & English or equivalent coupled with an interest in Business Administration and facilities management
You will have a basic knowledge of MS packages including Outlook, Word and Excel
You will have a have a friendly, flexible approach to your working day and a willingness to work with and support colleagues
You will have an enthusiastic, engaged attitude and eagerness to learn and develop personally and professionally
